Terms of service
Last updated 24 October 2026
These terms cover solel.io and the online services runs to help work. The software itself comes under its own open-source licences.
About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Jake Thomas Biddle, a sole trader in Queensland, Australia, trading as SOLEL-IO (ABN 12 623 358 183). In these terms, "", "we", "us" and "our" mean him.
They cover our website at solel.io and the online services we run for , together called "the services". These include update and download feeds, the notification relay for the Solel iPhone app, Mail's sign-in page and relay, and the licence check. By using the services you agree to these terms. If you use them for an organisation, you agree for that organisation. How we handle personal information is in our privacy policy.
The software
, Genesis Engine and our other software come under their own licences. , for example, is under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3. Those licences, not these terms, decide what you may do with the software, and nothing in these terms limits your rights under them. AI models we publish come with their own licences too.
Paid products, such as , will have their own terms when we offer them.
Your server is yours
runs on hardware you own or control, and you're responsible for:
- your server, its security, and keeping its software up to date;
- backing up what matters to you;
- the people you give accounts to, and what they do with them;
- what you store and share, and using it lawfully.
We don't hold your data, so we can't recover it for you.
Using our services
The services are free, and they exist to support . When you use them:
- use them only with and for what they're for;
- don't try to get around their limits, overload them, or interfere with them or with anyone else's use of them;
- don't use them to break the law, send spam or harm anyone;
- don't use Mail's registrations with Google or Microsoft, or our sign-in relay, outside .
We may limit, suspend or block access to a service if it's being misused, or to protect it or other people.
Other companies' services
Some features rely on other companies. Mail signs in with Google and Microsoft, iPhone notifications go through Apple, updates come from GitHub, and your mail comes from your mail provider. Their own terms and policies apply when you use them, including Google's terms when you connect Gmail. We aren't responsible for their services.
Changes and availability
and the services are in active development. We may change, pause or stop a service, and at times a service may be unavailable. We'll try to give notice before we retire a service your server relies on. Wherever we can, is built to keep working without our services.
Names and logos
, , and our logos are our trade marks. The software licences don't give you rights to them. Please don't use them in a way that suggests we made or endorse something we didn't.
Our liability
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law, or any other law, that can't be excluded. Beyond that, and as far as the law allows:
- the services and are provided as they are and as available, without any promise beyond what the law requires;
- we aren't liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for lost data, profit or revenue, arising from the services or from ;
- where the law lets us limit our liability for breaking a guarantee, we limit it to supplying the services again or paying the cost of having them supplied again.
Ending
You can stop using the services at any time. We may suspend or end your use of them if you break these terms. The parts on our liability and on governing law still apply afterwards.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll post the new version here with a new date. For significant changes, we'll give notice on this site before they take effect. If you keep using the services after that, you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Queensland, Australia. You and we submit to the courts of Queensland.
